The breathtaking views, combined with the enchanting atmosphere, made the evening feel magical. Adding to the experience, the owner personally came to our table to welcome us and generously shared some of his life experiences as a chef living in SMA. His passion for hospitality and culinary expertise was evident, making the evening even more special. Sharing this wonderful night with my stunning wife made it all the more memorable. “ Stunning terrace view, the food and wine were outstanding, the chef is Swiss and so personable, he came to check on the guests twice during the meal and told stories of how he learned to cook from his grandmothers. We would have eaten here every night if they didn’t close on Mon and Tues. ”

“ Casa Nostra has been one of our favorite restaurants in SMA for years. I think we first ate there in November of 2020 and the food continues to be excellent. We have never had anything except excellent meals and service here. Since we had our son visiting from out of town we requested to sit on the rooftop so he could enjoy the amazing views. It was somewhat of a tradeoff because while the view were spectacular (try to get a reservation during sunset), it was a bit chilly. The staff did their best to accommodate by providing heaters and blankets, but it was still a little cold. Fanny our server was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. She spoke excellent English and checked on us frequently throughout the meal. Service overall was fantastic and Casa Nostra has some of the best trained staff in San Miguel. We ordered the oyster mushrooms Rockefeller as an appetizer to share. No oysters in this dish, but the oyster mushrooms, cheese, and breadcrumbs served on the half shell were to die for. Each member of our party remarked that having a half dozen of these would have made an excellent meal all by itself. For my main course I ordered the Pasta Parmesan. It is prepared in a round of aged parmesan cheese and includes pancetta and mushrooms. The flavors blended together perfectly and the preparation really is a spectacle to behold. My wife ordered the rosemary grilled lamb chops. It was served with grilled asparagus and potatoes and was delicious. This particular dish is not on the main menu but is a seasonal special. Our son ordered the beef tenderloin which was grilled perfectly and had an excellent butter herb sauce. It was accompanied by sauteed mushrooms and pasta. It was tender and tasted delicious. The dessert menu was pretty extensive and while we usually share a dessert, we wanted to try several different ones. I ordered the churros, which was actually a churros "bowl" filled with a cream sauce and fresh fruit. My wife ordered the chocolate mousse, which was creamy and delicious. Our son ordered the Volcano chocolate lava cake which was served with vanilla ice cream. I didn't get to try this one, but our son raced about it. Unfortunately several of our photos didn't turn out, but I shared some of them that were halfway decent. Casa Nostra is an excellent restaurant for that special occasion, be it out of town visitors, anniversaries, or birthdays. We highly recommend it. ”

“ An amazing food experience at this unique restaurant. The wood fired grill and wine list will bring you in the door. But the regional seasonal superior cuisine is created by a local chef with French Swiss-German and Italian heritage. He synthesizes his creations using local produce and Mexican cultural influences. I enjoyed the smaller list of well chosen mezcals. ”

“ Truly a fantastic place, food is marvelous, service is of excellence, and waiters are really helpful with their recommendations. The owner is a great person too and makes you feel very welcome. The only thing I would see as an improvement for them, is to add a dessert menu, but even so we were given a Jamaica mezcal shot with a little chocolate, which while pretty tasty, left us wanting something more in the sweet department. Other than that, an excellent place away from all the noise with a warm service and fantastic food. Will visit again when I'm in town. ”

“ Craving lasagna? Head over to Casa Nostra. The salads were light and fresh. The bacon-wrapped dates came sizzling hot and balanced the sweet and savory craving to perfection. The pasta dish missed the mark, though. It was prepared table side but served lukewarm and the noodles were too soft. The rooftop seating provided a rewarding view of the city at sunset and you can capture great pics of the church with different lighting. The service was excellent and the owner personally takes time to meet you. What more can you want out of a restaurant experience? I can’t think of anything. ”

“ The food was delicious and unique. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and professional. We sat outside next to heating tower, but still a bit chilled. My only complaint is that some of the other staff automatically spoke to us in English, loud and slang, assuming that would make us feel comfortable. Yet, when I’m in Mexico I like to hear Spanish, especially in basic communications . ”
